RIC-622GE Gigabit Ethernet over STM-4/OC-12c Intelligent Converter
RIC-622GE from RAD is an intelligent converter offering a migration path for connecting future-ready Ethernet/IP devices over existing
SDH/SONET network at 622 Mbps access rates. Typical applications include IP DSLAM backhaul, inter-POP connectivity, or high
bandwidth private line services. RIC-622GE is equipped with an STM-4/OC12c SFP optical interface and an optical 1000BaseSX/LX or
electrical 1000BaseT interface.The RIC-622GE classifies Ethernet packets into four strict priority egress queues on the network port.
Based on VLAN prioritytagging (802.1p), different traffic flows are differentiated and prioritized according to the application. The RIC-
622GE operates either inbridge mode where frames are forwarded according to MAC address or in VLAN tag/stack mode where
frames are forwarded according to a VLAN tag or stack (Q-in-Q). When operating in VLAN tag/stack mode a VLAN tag is added to
customer traffic ensuring transparency to customer VLAN settings. VLAN filtering separates and secures user management traffic.
Low device latency results in a high throughput of TCP/IP applications Large traffic bursts are handled by a large 3150 frame buffer,
preventing a possible SDH/SONET bottle neck. A 64,000 MAC address table ensures that a large number of users can be connected.
Management options of the RAD RIC-622GE include:

The RIC-622GE redundant hot-swappable power supplies provide carrier-class reliability. The device collects statistics at the
Ethernet physical layer and the STM-4/OC-12c interface frame counters.
The RIC-622GE is a 1U, 19” box, with a rack-mount option.
