AS3000 Configuration Guidelines

1.Select appropriate shelf.
(a) Determine shelf capacity.
  (I) Remote Site Configurations: Five-slot Quint-line Shelf (QLS)
  (II) Central or Hub Site Configurations: 13-Slot Multi-line Shelf (MLS)
(b) Determine AC or DC power supply requirements.

2.Select SCM controller card for shelf configuration and management.
(a) SCM - SNMP manageable
Manages all AS3000 application modules.

3.Select appropriate AS3000 application module(s) for your application based upon controller module selected.
(a) Determine FT1/T1 and/or M1-3 interfaces.

AS3000 system Controller Module
The SCM provides node control, configuration and SNMP management of all AS3000 modules. SNMP provided via Ethernet (10BaseT/2) and/or SLIP interfaces. Local terminal port.

AS3000 M1-3 Multiplexer
The M1-3 module has a single DSX-3 port primarily used for channelized T3 connectivity. FT1/T1 ports from other AS3000 modules can be multiplexed up to a T3 by the M1-3 module and mapped toward the network.

AS3000 Quad-Port T1 or Dual-Circuit T1 CSU
The QUAD T1 provides T1 access to the AS3000 system for equipment such as PBXs, channel banks, or TDMs. It can either terminate T1 circuits, map T1 circuits to the M1-3 module or groom DS0s from T1 circuits to other ports on the AS3000 system.

AS3000 IMUX
The IMUX provides 1 to 8 T1 speeds for use with high speed routers and other devices requiring up to 12 Mbps connection to the WAN. Access on the LAN side can be through V.35 or HSSI. Access to the WAN can be achieved through the use of Quad T1 or M1-3. There can be multiple IMUX's in an AS3000 shelf.

AS3000 Quad Data
The QUAD Data provides T1 access to the AS3000 system for equipment such as routers and data devices requiring rates up to 1.544. Access to the data devices is V.35, RS449, or EIA530. Access to the Network is through the QUAD T1 or M1-3.
