E1 (channelized) circuits offer the versatility of voice, data or both at speeds up to 2.048 Million Bits/Second. In order to utilize a E1 circuit you need a CSU/DSU. The type of equipment used to terminate the E1 varies greatly depending upon the exact application. The most common applications are either all data or a mix of voice and data. Many manufacturers offer such equipment. The factors that separate one from another are such things as expandability, ease of installation, features, and of course cost.
