DSL is growing in popularity and the technology is still developing. Its basic advantage is speed, and its basic disadvantage is limited distance. DSL technology is sometimes referred to as xDSL to indicate that there is more than one type of DSL. Some of DSL technologies are ADSL - Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line, HDSL - High bit rate Digital Subscriber Line, RADSL - Rate Adaptive Digital Subscriber Line, SDSL - Symmetrical Digital Subscriber Line, and VDSL - Very High bit rate Digital Subscriber Line. There are different applications where each type of DSL has advantages and more are emerging everyday. |
