Nortel Networks
Passport 8000 Series

The Passport 8000 Routing switch provides high availability and multi-service integration for enterprise campus and MAN applications. It leverages Nortel Networks' unmatched experience in delivering high-availability systems for carriers, service providers and financial markets. As a result, it is the ideal platform for enterprise network managers wishing to deploy Unified Networks for the new millennium. The Passport 8000 features a highly fault-tolerant chassis, enabling it to deliver unprecedented levels of resilience and availability. It also provides investment protection by enabling seamless integration of routing switch technology, multi-service MAN technology and IP telephony, within a system scaling from 50 Gbps to 128 Gbps.

The Passport 8000 Routing switch is available in two form-factors, providing a high-availability platform for all enterprise applications:

The 10-slot Passport 8010 chassis is designed for high-density campus wiring closets and backbones needing the highest levels of availability and scalability.

The smaller 6-slot Passport 8006 chassis is designed for medium-sized wiring closets and backbones in which space is at a premium and lower density is desired.
