Nortel Networks

Passport / Accelar 700 Series

Nortel Networks extends its technology leadership in building mission-critical networks with the Passport 700 Server Switch Series. The Passport Server Switches deliver predictable performance and highly reliable, scalable access to Internet and Intranet applications and services (such as e-commerce) through response time-based load balancing and application and server awareness.

The Passport 700 Server Switch Series consists of five models offering services ranging from basic local server balancing through transaction modeling. The Passport 710 Server Switch and the Passport 750S Server Switch, the most recent additions to the Passport Server Switch family, are a new breed of Internet commerce equipment designed to provide Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) acceleration and load balancing in busy e-commerce environments. The Passport 740 Server Switch provides local server redundancy and load balancing for all TCP traffic across a wide variety of server types and operating systems. The Passport 750 Server Switch goes a step further, offering the ability to parse requests right down to the requested URL and ensure the reliability of Web transactions. The Passport 790 Server Switch takes Internet services global by allowing a single URL presence for geographically disperse server farms to manage client response time worldwide.

Passport Server Switches are ideal for deployment in both Internet and intranet mission-critical e-commerce applications. Use of industry-standard protocols throughout, such as RIP and OSPF, ensure easy integration into existing networks.
