Ethernet load balancing

Ethernet load balancing maximizes the efficiency of your Ethernet WAN links.  There are several different applications where Ethernet load balancing equipment is a good idea. Some companies have two WAN links, a primary and a smaller bandwidth backup link.  In many cases they are utilizing only the primary link and the backup link stands idle but available when needed. Ethernet load balancing equipment allows the primary and backup links to be used at the same time by sharing the load you will improve performance on the primary link since some of the traffic will be off loaded to the backup link by the Ethernet load balancing equipment. In the event of a failure on the primary link all of the traffic will be directed to the backup link. In some cases there are multiple primary WAN links. Without some type of Ethernet load balancing equipment it is unlikely that the load will be spread out evenly across the available links. Consequently, one link can become bottle necked. Ethernet load balancing equipment allows you to use the bandwidth for which you are already paying.
