FRAME RELAY MONITORING SOFTWARE FOR IQ DEVICES

ADTRAN IQ View™ software is a powerful network management system which maximizes the capabilities of ADTRAN IQ devices. IQ View combines the features of a complete SNMP management platform and network trend analysis tool in an easy-to-use, cost-effective package. By focusing on management and data collection for the IQ products, IQ View provides Frame Relay network monitoring for small- to medium-sized networks.

Operating on a standard PC running Microsoft Windows 95 or NT, IQ View provides extensive SNMP management features such as auto- discovery of network elements, topology mapping with drill-down to elements, and complete SNMP trap management. Other user-friendly features include integrated help files, and control, polling, and testing of IQ units. IQ View is a powerful trend analysis tool which stores frame IQ performance information in a long-term database and provides comprehensive reporting capabilities. Once the information is stored into a database, the report generator allows users to view the data in tabular or graphical formats. Reports can be generated for current-day performance or from historical data to analyze long term trends. Pre-formatted reports are included with the software for SLA monitoring such as circuit availability, data delivery rate, and round trip circuit delay or reports can be customized to suit user requirements

All ADTRAN IQ devices offer a flexible means of access by IQ View software for control and polling. These include SLIP/PPP, optional Ethernet 10Base-T, local router to DTE PVC, and in-band using the existing data PVC or a dedicated management PVC. All data retrieval and access is totally independent of the remote LAN, assuring the network manager that remote access to IQ units will always be available. The power of IQ View, coupled with the flexibility of the ADTRAN IQ family of DSU/CSUs, offers unprecedented solutions for Frame Relay monitoring.

ADTRAN DSU IQ, TSU IQ, NxIQ, TSU IQ+, and IQ Probe products provide intelligent monitoring of both the physical and logical connections made through them. Each PVC accessed through an IQ unit is managed end-to-end as if it were a leased line connection. Real-time statistics on availability, throughput, bandwidth utilization, bursting, congestion and network response time are collected and stored for retrieval and analysis by a management application such as IQ View. This information allows both the end user and the service provider to measure network performance, and compare it to the Service Level Agreement.
