EXPRESS L768

SDSL CAMPUS CONNECTIVITY

The ADTRAN Express L768 is an SDSL bridge/router that connects LAN segments or provides remote access to computers over a single twisted pair of copper. The Express L768 is designed to work back-to-back over private copper as a cost-effective LAN extension device. When the Express L768 is used in conjunction with ADTRAN FramePort products, it becomes a cost-effective end-to-end SDSL remote access/Internet access solution.

The Express L768 provides a cost-effective campus connectivity solution. When used in a leased copper setting, this product delivers 768 kbps bi-directionally over a single twisted pair of copper. The Express L768 also transmits at sub-rates ranging from 128 kbps to 768 kbps. This solution can be used to extend a LAN or provide remote access to a single user or LAN segment.

The Express L768 can also be used as a means to provide Internet access in a campus or strip mall setting. Bundling the Express L768, FramePort D4 cards and a channel bank creates a cost-effective Internet access solution. FramePort, a standard D4 channel bank card, works in conjunction with a non-channeled T1 to provide Frame Relay access to the Internet. A single T1 provides simultaneous access to the Internet for up to 24 Express 768 devices.

Six levels of security in the Express L768 provide a wide selection of security options. Network Address Translation (NAT) allows a single IP address to be downloaded through Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to the Express L768. Up to ten users can have a private IP network address downloaded from the Express L768.

The Express L768 can route IP and IPX packets and bridge all other protocols, independently or concurrently. The Express L768 can operate in the Frame Relay mode (providing up to ten PVCs) or in a PPP mode over the LAN.

Five LEDs provide constant feedback about the Express L768 operation. A unique slide switch on the rear panel of the Express L768 eliminates the need for separate cables when connecting to a HUB or NIC card. Extensive logs are provided to monitor operation.

Telnet, SNMP, and a serial EIA-232 port provide multiple methods of configuration and management.
