SNMP MANAGEMENT MODULE FOR THE
TSU/TDU

The SNMP Agent module
(part# 1200160L1) provides SNMP and Telnet management of TSU 100/120/600 and TDU
120 units. When inserted into a TSU/TDU option slot, the SNMP Agent module
(part# 1200160L1) provides both a 10BaseT
Ethernet and a SLIP RS-232 port for LAN or serial connection to a host SNMP network
management station. For configuration, the SNMP Agent module (part# 1200160L1) provides set-up through a VT100
terminal or the optional Windows® based T-Watch PRO™ software.
Through the Management Information Base (MIB)-II standard and an ADTRAN supplied
enterprise MIB, the SNMP Agent module(part# 1200160L1) can be configured and monitored using standard SNMP
network management programs such as HP OpenView®, Netview® and SunNet® Manager. Up to
16 non-SNMP TSUs can be controlled via the chain-in/chain-out port, 8k inband channel over
the DTE data or through the T1 FDL.
For troubleshooting, the Adtran SNMP Agent module
(part# 1200160L1) has several key features to aid the Network
Manager or MIS specialist. By providing alarms to the SNMP workstation, the Agent module
alerts the manager to a trap condition. In order to further investigate the alarm, the
optional T-Watch PRO software package allows full TSU/TDU and module monitoring and
configuration over the LAN. This new version of the popular software also controls
non-SNMP managed TSU/TDU devices.
The TSU (T1 Service Unit), TSU LT, TSU ESP, TSU 100, TSU 120, TSU 600, and TDU 120 are
intelligent, full-featured T1 DSU/CSUs, designed to interface customer DTE to T1 or
Fractional T1 services.
The SNMP Agent module is one of a many application-specific modules available for the
TSU 100/120/600 and the TDU 120. The ability to combine different expansion modules with
plug-on boards provides a variety of interface port combinations for voice, data, and
video applications. Several application-specific expansion modules are available for
flexibility and growth including the Nx56/64 (V.35), DSX-1, OCU DP, 2FXS+, 2FXO, E&M,
D&I, and DBU.
