The TSU 120
(Part# 1200129L1 )(T1 service unit), is an intelligent, full-featured, T1-FT1 DSU/CSU.
Designed to interface customers' data terminal equipment (DTE) to T1 or Fractional T1
services, the TSU 120
(Part# 1200129L1 ) is fully compatible with D4 or ESF framing formats and AMI or B8ZS
line coding. When in ESF framing mode, the unit satisfies ANSI T1.403 and AT&T 54016
modes for utilization of the facility data link (FDL).
A base V.35 and DSX-1 (PBX) interface is provided on the rear of the TSU
120 (Part# 1200129L1 ). The V.35
port will operate synchronously at Nx56 or Nx64 data rates where N=1 to 24. The DSX-1
interface provides a short-haul T1 interface intended for connection to a PBX or similar
device. The channels programmed for DSX-1 voice and V.35 data can be selected at random.
A major feature of the TSU 120
(Part# 1200129L1 ) is an expansion slot on the rear of the unit that
accepts a single expansion module. A number of application-specific modules and plug-ons
are available to provide flexibility and room for growth. The option modules currently
available include: Nx56/64 (V.35), OCU DP, Dial Back Up, FXS, FXO, 4-wire E & M, Drop
& Insert, SNMP Agent and V.34 modem.
Configuration of the TSU 120
(Part# 1200129L1 ) is simple through the front panel keys and an easy to
read, back-lit LCD display. The menu driven interface allows the user to configure,
monitor, and test the TSU
120 (Part# 1200129L1 ). An optional software package, called T-Watch PRO, is
available to interface to a rear-mounted, daisy-chainable control port. The T-Watch PRO
software runs on a PC under Microsoft Windows(r), and allows full access to monitor and
test local and remote TSU devices. Management of remote units may be inband using the data
channel or out-of-band using the FDL. SNMP management is available using the Agent Module.
Several built-in tests allow the user to diagnose the health of the T1-FT1 circuit
without the need for expensive test equipment. Several local and remote network and DTE
loopbacks can be activated from the front panel or T-Watch PRO. The user can also select
test patterns, including 511 and QRSS.
