The Disaster Recovery Expansion Module family includes three different modules for maximum Dial Backup flexibility for the TSU 100, TSU 120, and TSU 600. The Multi Port DBU (part# 1200089L2#HS ), Nx56/64 DBU (part# 1200174L1 ), and the NxDBU (part# 1200158L1#HS ) provide expansion modules in Plug-In, Plug-On and Full Slot expansion module format. Each module provides unique capabilities when used for disaster recovery preparation in networking applications. All DBU modules (Part# 1200089L2#HS, 1200158L1#HS and 1200174L1) are designed to be inserted into the expansion slot of a TSU and are subject to the units operations and control. All DBU modules (Part# 1200089L2#HS, 1200158L1#HS and 1200174L1 ) provide fast, reliable backup of data circuits to an external DCE device. ADTRAN® provides several dedicated and switched products to meet a variety of backup requirements. For example, ADTRAN products such as the DSU IV support a single SW56 circuit for a backup path. For greater than 56 kbps dial backup bandwidth, ADTRAN offers the ISU 128® and ISU 512. These ISDN terminal adapters support from one to four BRI-ISDN circuits for backup bandwidth from 128k to 512k. For total T1 bandwidth backup, the DBU module provides the entire 1.544 Mbps data stream to an external TSU-T1 DSU/CSU. Plug-In, Plug-On or Full Slot Expansion Modules Available The NxDBU Module (part# 1200158L1#HS ) incorporates the Nx56/64 V.35 DTE interface as well as the V.35 DCE DBU interface in a single, full slot card. This module provides the seamless backup of the V.35 DTE port through the adjacent V.35 DBU port. The NxDBU module (part# 1200158L1#HS ) is ideal for applications where the host site TSU is connected to several remote sites via FT1. In the case of a single remote site failure, the host site NxDBU Module would only activate the dial backup function for the failed link, allowing the remainder of the point to point links to remain active. The Nx56/64 with DBU Plug-On Module (part# 1200174L1 ) provides both the Nx56/64 DTE interface and the DBU connection from a single port plug-on module. The single V.35 interface functions as a standard Nx56/64 DTE interface for synchronous applications. The V.35 Y cable can be used for applications requiring dial backup of the attached DTE device. This cable, which is included with the Module, provides three connections: a male V.35 connection to the module itself, a female V.35 connection for the DTE and a male connection for the external DBU device. This Y cable approach allows the power and flexibility of the full slot NxDBU module to reside in a single slot plug-on card. The Nx56/64 with DBU Plug-On Module (part# 1200174L1 ) is ideal for applications where back-up is desired but space is a premium. This module is available as a Plug-On Module only. Features
